Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for this scheme?
+

Any Indian citizen owning a house with a suitable roof, a valid electricity connection, and no previous availing of a solar subsidy is eligible.
Do I pay the full amount upfront?
+

Yes, initially you must pay the total cost of the system to the vendor (or take a solar loan). After successful installation and net metering, the government directly credits the subsidy amount to your bank account.
How long does the subsidy take to arrive?
+

Once the commissioning report is generated by the DISCOM and you upload your bank details to the national portal, the subsidy is typically disbursed within 30 days.
Are there any specific solar panels required?
+

Yes, to be eligible for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, you must install DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) solar modules, which means the solar cells and modules must be manufactured in India. State Solar Grid India uses MNRE approved DCR modules.
